چکیده

Some previous studies have already highlighted the importance of Quaternary sediments as geoheritage, although related knowledge remains incomplete and geographically biased. Unique features are often overlooked in areas famous for their pre-Quaternary geoheritage. Moreover, established high-value linked to phenomena require comprehensive descriptions; therefore, it is reasonable analyze (even if these only locally unique). For purposes present study, three localities that form parts larger geosites, which represent Mountainous Adygeya Western Caucasus, characterized. They assessed qualitatively, with a general description attention paid origin, potential scientific importance, accessibility. The Rufabgo Canyon hosts colluvial megaclast sediments. Dakh–Sakhray Confluence exhibits typical alluvial sediment where detrital clasts mixed rather numerous Fe-rich concretions washed out from parent rocks. Stonesea Range eluvial–deluvial formed result karstification carbonates erosion overlaying red siliciclastics. All interest scientists because they can be employed promising research projects, revealing peculiarities local patterns sedimentation. under consideration geoheritage points within geosites perfectly accessible. Aside use by scientists, potentially used geosciences educators train university students sedimentology. In two cases, also aesthetically important attracting tourists. Generally, should considered together other unique represented Adygeya.

Petrochemical Characteristics of Neogene and Quaternary Alkali Olivine Basalts from the Western Margin of the Lut Block, Eastern Iran

The Nayband strike-slip fault forms the western margin of the micro-continental Lut block in Eastern Iran. Neogene and Quaternary mafic volcanic rocks collected near Tabas, along the northern part of the fault (NNF; 15 Ma), and further to the south, along the middle part of the fault (MNF; 2 Ma), are within-plate sodic-series alkali olivine basalts with high TiO2 and up to >16% normative nephel...

Mayflies of the Caucasus Mountains. III. A new representative of the subgenus Rhodobaetis Jacob, 2003 (Baetidae: Baetis) from the South-Western Caucasus.

A new species of the subgenus Rhodobaetis Jacob, 2003, namely Baetis (Rhodobaetis) vadimi sp. nov., is described based on immature larvae from several localities in Georgia and Turkey. It is the ninth species of the subgenus for Transcaucasia, following six species formally recorded from Turkey and two endemic species described from the Central Caucasus. Larval characters are investigated and i...

26. Stable Isotopic Analyses of Interstitial Gases in Quaternary Sediments from the Gulf of California

The origin of the interstitial gases of Hole 479 is bacterial. This is indicated by a positive correlation of the C concentration in interstitial methane and CO2 in the shallower depths of the hole. Below a depth of 100 meters, the interstitial CO2 becomes increasingly depleted in carbon-13, which indicates a higher rate of CO2-producing decarboxylation reactions rather than a consumption of CO...

Geopolitical Changes and Crises in The Caucasus

The Caucasus has seen numerous crises since the region gained independence following the collapse of the Soviet Union.
